(NASHVILLE, Tenn.)  –  As a part of Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee’s community relations efforts, the company is supporting the American Cancer Society and the MAKING STRIDES Against Breast Cancer walk, which will be held Saturday, October 24th at LP Field in Nashville.  This is the third year that Goodwill has supported this event. In addition, Goodwill partnered with the Nashville Junior Chamber of Commerce and supplied 200 bras for the Hot Pink fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

MAKING STRIDES Against Breast Cancer is a five mile noncompetitive walk to save lives.  It is the American Cancer Society’s premier event to raise awareness and dollars to fight breast cancer.  It is also designed to honor breast cancer survivors and remember friends and family we have lost to the disease. All the funds raised from this walk are dedicated to breast cancer research, education, advocacy, and patient support programs.  Last year more than 15,000 walkers in Nashville raised more than $625,000 for the program.

Goodwill customers will find promotional brochures for the event in Nashville-area Goodwill retail stores. Participants do not have to pay a registration fee or raise a minimum amount of money.  Participants of all ages are welcome.   If you have any questions about the event or how to become involved, please click here.

The Nashville Junior Chamber of Commerce Hot Pink fundraiser was held at the Tin Roof restaurant in Cool Springs on Sunday, September 27.  More than 125 guests participated in the event which included a silent auction.  Junior Chamber members hung bras throughout the restaurant which were supplied by Goodwill.  The fundraiser brought in more than $4,800 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
