Rai
Rai’s life unraveled after his beloved wife lost her battle to cancer. “When she died, the best part of me died. I just didn’t care,” says Rai quietly. His downward spiral included drugs and homelessness. Slowly, cautiously, Rai decided to make changes in his life. One of the most important steps he took was coming to Goodwill for help with his job search.
Starting as a janitor in a Goodwill store, Rai was soon promoted to donations attendant. Goodwill believed in Rai and he now believes in himself again. He’s met one of his personal goals and has saved enough money to get an apartment. But his job gives him more than money and shelter. He has friends at work, a purpose, and through work, he helps countless people. Rai needed a fresh start in life. Thanks to Goodwill, that’s exactly what he got.
