Sip, Style, Shop Night Planned at East Nashville Goodwill

Six popular midstate bloggers will share their strategies for finding and assembling top-flight fashions at bargain basement prices during Sip, Style, Shop — a special evening at the cozy East Nashville Goodwill store.

The free event will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, at 613 Gallatin Ave. Everyone is welcome, from cost-conscious fashionistas to thrift-shopping newbies.

Sip, Style, Shop will be a casual affair, in which guests come and go as they please, enjoy interacting with the experts and get personalized advice to make shopping more fun and rewarding. Guests can browse not only the shelves and garment racks but also Goodwill merchandise especially selected by each blogger to reflect their unique style or shopping strategies. Refreshments will be served, and there will be a drawing for Goodwill gift cards.

All purchases of merchandise from Goodwill’s stores benefit the nonprofit’s mission of changing lives through education, training and employment.

The event was the brainchild of Nashville-area blogger Betsy Appleton, better known online and on social media as Goldwill Digger. Appleton, who will be among the experts meeting with attendees at Sip, Style, Shop, has been thrift shopping since early childhood but recently rekindled her love for Goodwill during her postgraduate quest to find her way through adulthood.

She loves finding unique pieces for a fraction of retail and incorporating them into today’s styles for a one-of-a-kind look.

“As soon as I started blogging, friends, acquaintances, and complete strangers reached out to me about joining in one of my Goodwill adventures,” Appleton said. “Though I want to share my love of Goodwill with everyone I encounter, it wasn’t possible for me to follow up on every ‘I want to go shopping with you’ request.”

So Appleton approached Goodwill about holding a special event. The result is Sip, Style, Shop.

Sheena’s style is vintage chic. She became serious about thrifting in 2012 when she got a new job and needed business casual clothes. She went to Goodwill for a few blouses and slacks and was hooked. She loves that shopping at Goodwill allows her to express herself without breaking the bank, and Goodwill’s mission of helping people overcome barriers to employment is equally important to her.

It’s my family’s other home. We love it. We have a 21 yr old son with Down Syndrome so we appreciate what the money goes too.
