Born with arthrogryposis, or clubbed feet and hands, Caltera was told by her doctors that she’d never walk or talk. She wasn’t expected to be able to care for herself or be independent. Those negative messages only strengthened her resolve.

Caltera walked into Goodwill for help learning job skills and, just days after entering the transitional services program, she had mastered tasks including typing, answering the phone and assisting other clients.

“Nothing will defeat me,” she says.
