Finding Her Voice Again: Victoria Is Bridging Generations Through Podcasting

For forty years, Victoria Edwards used her voice to build a career in customer service. Her friendly and confident tone helped resolve customer issues over the phone for multiple companies. Now, with the help of Goodwill Career Solutions, she’s using her voice in a much different way; helping mend generational differences.

With the help and guidance of Goodwill Career Navigator Kelly Proudfoot, Victoria launched a podcast titled “The Golden Chronicles” in December 2025. Victoria co-hosts the show with her daughter, Danielle. The premise is simple; help mend relationships between parents and their adult children.

“I’m a baby boomer and my daughter is a millennial, and we know so many people who have estranged relationships with their parents or children, so the purpose of the podcast is to help different generations re-connect,” Victoria said.

The mother and daughter duo release episodes every other week and have conversations about their own relationship and experiences they’ve had over the years. They discuss topics that can often lead to tension in relationships between parents and their kids, such as boundaries, apologies, communication styles, and what each person feels respect looks like.

While Victoria spent many years working for a company in the Nashville area that had their own well-known podcast, she never imagined she’d be the face and voice of her own platform. When she first started working with Kelly at the Career Solutions Center in Hendersonville, a podcast wasn’t even on her radar. As the two got to know each other and discussed Victoria’s interests, Kelly inspired the idea and helped make it come to life.

“Kelly is just amazing,” Victoria said. “Her mind is full of suggestions and recommendations.”

Kelly helped Victoria research everything she needed to know to get her podcast off the ground. From which platform to use, to how to market it, Kelly walked alongside Victoria the whole way.

As The Golden Chronicles began to come to fruition, Victoria also worked with Kelly to search for a remote job that would allow her to make more income.

“I retired in 2022, and my late husband’s social security and the pension from the company that he worked for take care of me, but it’s just not as much as I would like to have,” she said.

Even with forty years of experience in customer service positions, Victoria couldn’t manage to get employers to hire her or even contact her. She spent several years applying for roles on job sites such as LinkedIn and felt extremely discouraged. She couldn’t help but wonder if her age played a role in her constant rejection.

Kelly encouraged Victoria to sign up for several of Goodwill’s free education courses that would strengthen her resume, interview, and remote job skills.

“Those courses and instructors are top-notch,” Victoria said. “I was blown away. It is so awesome that they are free too!”

While Victoria continues to search for a remote position while growing The Golden Chronicles, she and Kelly meet consistently to improve her skills and go over ideas for where to apply to different positions she would be a good fit for.

Since launching The Golden Chronicles, Danielle and Victoria have released 14 episodes and are continuing to gain traction. They have a future goal of being able to secure sponsorships to monetize their podcast.

Even so, Victoria says launching The Golden Chronicles has given her a new passion that she didn’t know she needed, as well as meaningful time spent connecting with her daughter.

“Earning income off the podcast would be great, but if we help mend some relationships, that’s really the goal,” Victoria said. “I can’t thank Goodwill and Kelly enough for helping me get to this point, and I love telling everyone I know about what Goodwill can do for them.”
