“Goodwill is more than just a company. It’s a ministry, because it encourages people.”

A retired machinist, Robert quickly learned retirement life wasn’t for him. “I needed a little extra income, and I didn’t want to sit around the house,” he says. “But no one wanted to hire me because of my age.”

After months of looking for work, Robert stopped by the Career Solutions center in Jackson. It wasn’t long before Goodwill offered him a job as a DEC attendant.

It’s a job that fits this people person perfectly. “I always greet donors with a big smile and a ‘thank you’,” Robert says. “I want to make them feel like they are the most important people on Earth, because they are.”
