Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is changing lives through education, training and employment. Goodwill Career Solutions is the mission arm of Goodwill — helping thousands of Tennesseans each year to find meaningful work and build careers.
Many Career Solutions clients are unemployed, underemployed or face some barrier to employment, such as a disability, a lack of a diploma or a history of incarceration. However, almost all of Goodwill’s numerous programs and services are available to the general public free-of-charge, thanks to the generosity of Goodwill’s shoppers and donors. Goodwill’s Career Solutions Centers provide both in-person and virtual classes for Tennesseans who need to acquire skills that will help them find and maintain rewarding employment. Most of these classes can be completed in as few as one or two hours, and virtual classes can be accessed from home or using computers at our career centers.
Goodwill offers programs that help individuals gain advanced skills and certifications needed to enter a variety of occupations. These programs provide training in fields such as construction, forklift, information technology and solar installer training. Participants’ time commitment varies by program.
Career Coaches help job-seekers assess their strengths, refine their goals and acquire skills needed to find meaningful work and launch careers. Many clients move into rewarding jobs with Goodwill, but most find work with other employers. Services include one-on-one coaching, job placement assistance and referrals.
Goodwill Career Solutions provides comprehensive support through education, training, and employment services, tailored to assist individuals, including those facing employment barriers. It offers a range of free programs to the public, enabled by the support of generous donors and shoppers. Services include skill-building classes, job placement assistance, and specialized training programs aimed at equipping individuals for meaningful employment opportunities. Initial Contact: Individuals interested in services reach out or are referred to Goodwill Career Solutions.
Assessment: A personalized assessment is conducted to identify the individual’s needs, skills, and employment goals.
Program Enrollment: Based on the assessment, individuals are enrolled in relevant training programs, workshops, or directly into job placement services.
Skill Development: Participants undergo training and education to enhance their employability.
Job Placement Assistance: Goodwill assists in job search and placement, leveraging its network of employer partners.
