06 Nov Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee Thanks Employees, Shoppers for Military Service
Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee is recognizing the men and women who have served our Nation in honor of Veterans Day 2023. Whether they be Goodwill employees, shoppers or donors, Goodwill is honoring veterans’ bravery and commitment for the common good.
This year, Goodwill will be featuring several employees who have served in the military on our social media pages and website throughout the week. To highlight their service, Goodwill will also provide American flag pins for veterans to wear while at work during the days leading up to and on Nov. 11. Goodwill asks its customers to thank a veteran working in our stores and at our donation centers for their service.
Patrick McAuliffe, Army veteran, has worked with Goodwill for eleven years and currently works as a Donation Express Center Lead. McAuliffe said he’s grateful to the organization for its support of military veterans. McAuliffe served in the Army from 2003 to 2010 and did several tours in Iraq. When looking for employment after returning home, McAuliffe knew he wanted to work for an organization whose mission aligned with his love for helping others.
“Goodwill’s goal is to get people jobs and training who may be struggling or down on their luck,” McAuliffe said. “Goodwill gets them back on their feet and gives them purpose.”
McAuliffe wants other veterans to know about the employment services Goodwill provides.
“When I was in the military, there were people who had no experience other than being an infantryman, but that won’t help you get certain jobs. At Goodwill, you can get training in different areas and get the experience you need to get that job,” McAuliffe said.
Goodwill recognizes the complexity of issues millions of veterans face when returning home. Our Career Solutions Centers serve our military heroes by offering a variety of services to gain meaningful employment.
“The official theme for Veterans Day 2023 is ‘Service,’ and at Goodwill, we are incredibly honored to serve the people who have served our country,” said Leisa Wamsley, Chief Operating Officer of Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee. “Whether that be helping veterans build skills to find a job or employing them at Goodwill, we are committed to serving those who have given so much to our country.”
Goodwill will also run a special Veterans Day discount for all True Blue Rewards members from Nov. 6 – 11 of 10% off of $35. Goodwill supports Military service members year-round by providing a 10% off discount for veterans every Thursday. During this week’s Veterans Day discount, veterans are able to stack the two discounts.
