20 Feb Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee Appoints Five New Board Members
Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee on Monday, Feb. 20, 2023, announced the appointment of five new members to its board of directors.
Joining the board are K. Beth Duffield, director of Early Career Engagement for Ascension; Rick Ewing, director of Customer Success-Health Sciences at Oracle Corporation; Rob Ivy, chief financial officer at Lee Company; Gabriela Moran, an MBA candidate at Vanderbilt University; and Scott Turner, president of Ajax Turner. The three-year term for new board members began Jan. 1, 2023.
“Our directors are dedicated local community leaders with a deep commitment to Goodwill’s mission of changing lives through education, training and employment,” said Board Chairman Mike Madden, executive vice president at Kirklands. “These volunteers bring impressive skills and experience that will help our nonprofit navigate these challenging economic times as well as grow our mission services to meet the changing needs of people across middle and west Tennessee.”
About K. Beth Duffield
Duffield is director of Early Career Engagement for Ascension, one of the nation’s leading nonprofit and Catholic health systems. In that role, Duffield is focused on acquiring talent and improving new associate retention. She previously served as business solutions director for the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development and as senior vice president of Education and Workforce Development at the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce. She also has served in development and workforce roles for higher education institutions and in brand marketing for private corporations. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Ambassador University and a master’s from Trevecca Nazarene University.
About Rick Ewing
Ewing is director of Customer Success-Health Sciences at Oracle Corporation, which offers integrated suites of applications plus secure, autonomous infrastructure in the Oracle Cloud. He conceptualizes and executes multi-million dollar ERP, CRM, and Cloud solution implementations for Fortune 100 customers across the health care, pharmaceuticals, clinical trials, financial services and insurance industries. He previously served for eight years as senior technical account manager for Siebel Systems. He also worked with Ernst & Young, Health Management Information Systems and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Trinity College-Hartford and a master’s from the Owen Graduate School of Management.
About Rob Ivy
Ivy is chief financial officer at Lee Company, a family-owned, $300 million construction, facilities and home services company. A CPA skilled in all aspects of corporate financial management, he leads Lee Company’s Support Services teams, comprised of Accounting, IT HR and Legal/Risk Management. He works alongside other company executives to develop and implement financial and operational strategies across the organization. He also serves on Lee Company’s Board of Directors. He previously served as CFO with YMCA of Middle Tennessee and Salix Ventures. He began his career with Arthur Andersen LLP. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Mississippi State University.
About Gabriela Moran
Moran is an MBA candidate at Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University. Prior to graduate school, she served as a consulting contract analyst and financial analyst at HCA Healthcare in Nashville. She also worked as an investment performance analyst and team leader at Cambridge Associates in Arlington, Va. She has served internships with the U.S. Department of Commerce Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee and the Nashville Export Assistance Center. Gabriela received her bachelor’s degree in International Relations and International Business at American University. She also attended the Kogod School of Business at American University.
About Scott Turner
Turner is president of Ajax Turner, an alcohol beverage distributor. Ajax Turner began with one man, one truck and one brewery, and today is a multi-generational, family-owned, wholesale distributor of an extensive portfolio of high-quality beverages. Turner began his first job while on summer break from middle school — sweeping warehouse floors at Ajax Turner after the trucks had left for each day’s routes. He joined the company full time in 1980, after graduating from the University of Alabama. He enjoys the competitive spirit of the industry, the variety of customers that they serve and the camaraderie within the company.
