GOODWILL OUTLET OPENING OCT. 17 IN WEST NASHVILLE

Ceremonies, Door Prizes Planned; Merchandise To Be Sold By Pound

Area residents, treasure-hunters and bargain shoppers are invited to help Goodwill celebrate the Grand Opening of its newest Outlet store in Nashville at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and door prizes.

The new Outlet is located at 7237 Cockrill Bend Blvd., about 15 minutes west of downtown. Goodwill’s original Outlet is at 780 Berry Road in Nashville.

Clothing, textiles, accessories, shoes and most home goods will be sold for $1.09 per pound. Books will be 59 cents per pound. Furniture and other large items will be individually priced. All sales of donated items fund Goodwill’s mission of changing lives through education, training and employment.

“We are thrilled to present this new Outlet for our guests,” said Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee President and CEO Matthew Bourlakas. “Besides providing a large, comfortable new space for shoppers to find amazing bargains, the new facility will allow Goodwill to process more donations, be a better steward of items entrusted to us by donors and put more people to work through our mission.”

The new, 13,900-square-foot Outlet includes a guest lounge with seating and vending machines. The sales floor will hold about 60 bins filled with merchandise at any one time. Most bins will rotate every two hours and be replaced with a completely different selection of merchandise.

About 15 employees will work in the new facility, which adjoins other Goodwill operations, such as its e-commerce (OnlineGoodwill.com) department and Construction Training Program.

Grand opening events will get under way at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce. The Outlet will open to guests immediately following the ceremony, and 20 Goodwill gift cards will be given away through Sunday, Oct. 20.

Hours at the new Outlet will be 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday.  The phone number is (615) 425-3894.
