Professional Organizers to Transform Franklin Woman’s Garage This Saturday, April 9

A team of professional organizers will descend on a Franklin woman’s home on Saturday, April 9, to transform her messy garage piled high with belongings into a neatly arranged, productive space.

As the winner of Goodwill’s Great Garage Rescue Contest, Phyllis Harper will receive not only the services of the Nashville chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers, but also a custom garage organizational unit from Garage Solutions and packing/storage materials from A-Z Office Resources.

A Goodwill truck will also be on hand to collect a large number of unneeded household items Harper wishes to donate. Donations to Goodwill fund its mission of providing education, training and employment across Middle and West Tennessee.

“I am super excited,” said Harper, who has called the contest a “godsend.” The 53-year-old is disabled from injuries she suffered in an accident at her home in 2004. She walks with difficulty, which has prevented her from tackling the garage cleanup project alone.

Goodwill announced the contest in September on social media and asked entrants to submit photos of their messy garages and a brief description of why they thought they should win. Goodwill staff selected Harper’s entry from among several finalists.
